If life has been sucking you up, congratulations. You are on your way to extreme productivity.
If life has been sparing you with plenty of free time, congratulations. You should make full use of your free time to the extreme as well.
Either way, i am on half a side of both situations. That's double congratulations to me.
Happy holidays everyone.
Clean Food or Not So
Genova on Wednesday, November 04, 2009
Hey guys,
I just had my wholesome dinner.
Check it out.
It's nasi ayam at farvis. Yummy
Let's check it out further. Just a little zoom I promise.
Aiks. What the heck is that ? Let's check it out again.
Holy god. it's a dead fly. I got it from the curry bar !... God damn it. Farvis.
Sometimes I don't understand what is wrong there. I mean they have more staff than they will ever need and yet their service is slow, not so friendly (some of them), and NOW they can't even do the BASICS like keeping their curry clean ?
OMFG.
When I saw the fly there laying dead waiting to be swallowed on my plate, I immediately informed the working dude. Well, he was kind enough to replace a plate for me. But you see, they just don't get it. The fly came from one of their curry in the curry bar. As he passed the shit plate of rice to another shortest indian guy (if you go there often enough, you would know am i talking about). That shortest indian guy gave me the look of "whats wrong with just a fly.. what's the big deal". I stared back at him and almost gave him THAT finger. Oh well, luckily my brain reacted well, so I didn't.
Here's my concern, I am pretty sure the fly has been there for quite some time and that the fly had curry juice from the flymouth all the down to the ass. Why can't they FCUKING clean it ?. Is it so hard to keep things clean ?

Makan @ Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh
Genova on Friday, September 25, 2009
Yu Kee is one of the bak kut teh place in Gaya street that is packed to the max during dinner. Now bak kut teh is one of my favourite food. So when I see a shop filled up with people queuing outside to wait for table, I knew I had to get a taste of what it's all about.
So on one fine night, we headed there with one thing in mind. BAK KUT TEH.

Upon arrival, there were a huge crowd already eating there. I can't help but to feel excited about what i was about to taste.
One thing about the bak kut teh there is that they DO NOT serve them in claypots. Different parts such as meat, intestine, meatballs, etc. are sold differently in small bowls. We ordered a bowl of tofu pok and a plate of vege to go with our main dish.

Rating : 2/5
The truth is that when bak kut teh is served this way, there's no way it could taste any better than other stalls. All the dishes came warm instead of the usual boiling hot. If they can't get the basics right, then they just failed. The soup is the less herbal type which is fine.
There's nothing impressive about the dish and it goes pretty much below average flavour wise. I just don't think the idea of serving bak kut teh slightly warm is going to do the dish any good.

Rating : 3/5
Tofu on the other hand tasted better. The vege was decent just like any other place.
Damage : RM30
The price is slightly pricier than their neighbour Sin Kee. So I reckon Sin Kee would offer a better deal. I mean, bad food at 30 bucks is a no-no.
I don't know about the people who goes there and queue, but I am definitely not going back to this place.
Sin Kee is located at the heart of Gaya Street. Here.

Makan @ Little Italy
Genova on Tuesday, September 22, 2009
Little Italy has been one of those place which gets filled up to the max whenever I pass by at night. It's packed almost every single time I pass by. So it could only mean 2 things. It's either serves good food or it serves as a good place for tourists to spend money. Last Sunday marked our first anniversary. So we headed over to that little place for some dinner. Of course still got other activities lah.
When we arrived, the place was packed to the max with tourists. So we had to wait a bit to for seating.
They have quite an extensive range of pasta and pizza. It took me awhile to decide what to eat. You know unlike Mcd where I can just go in and say "1 regular double cheese burger. thankeewwww".
So I decided on marinara verdi which basically means seafood platter of some sort I guess. Then choosing the pasta was a bit of headache too. So I left the decision to the waiter. He choose Fettuccine Verdi. So when he repeated my order, he said "Fettuccine Verdi Marinara Verdi". That was like a double verdi meal and I thought we could just factorize to shorten the name to Verdi² (Fettuccinne Marinara). Mathematically we could do that.

Rating : 4/5
Damage : RM23.90
Some green pasta cooked with seafood. I thought the seafood (prawns, mussel, scallop, calamari) was good. Cream based pasta and the thing I love about this is the pasta itself. Has a hint of pandan flavour.
Pizza - Carnivora

Rating : 4/5
Damage : RM19.90 (Regular)
The pizza is a thin base pizza topped with beef bacon, ham, onions and pineapples. It has ample cheese and I thought it tasted great. Pretty good stuff.
The soup of the day on the other hand is an disapointment.

Rating : 2/5
Damage : RM8.90
The soup was basically campbell's soup with extra mushroom that has gone wrong. It was diluted and oily. I belive I can make better ones. :) I prefer the ones at Ingolf Kneipe where they serve the absolute best mushroom soup.
Overall the place serves pretty good food at a price range of RM20++. The food was serve rather fast for a super packed restaurant. If it was not for the super packed and faulty airconditioning, this place would be good for a date. It was a good date for us. :)

Google Dependent
Genova on Sunday, September 20, 2009
I have come to realize that I depend a lot on google. From the minute I wake up, the first thing I would fire up is my Google Calendar. Of course I would feel some heart attack looking at the schedules. I heavily depend on google calendar because all i do is just throw all my stuff in there and forget it. That said, I would quickly run off to the kitchen to make my morning drink.
Then I would come back with my cup of coffee and fire up google reader to see whats new. Not to mention checking GMAIL and Google groups for updates. Practically, from the minute I wake up, I rely on google for many of my tasks. If google were to go offline for a day, that is the day I achieve unproductiveness.
